Marina Shanefelter Bio
Marina Shanefelter, originally from Estonia, studied Hydrography and Waterways Safety Management at the Estonian Maritime Academy, to ensure safe navigation for maritime transport in Estonia and international waters. After moving to the United States, she continued her education in Business Administration with a concentration in International Business.
A lifelong passion for dance has been an important part of Marina’s journey. In Estonia, she managed Spanish and Latin-American Cultural Center and taught dance classes, sharing her love of movement and culture with students of all ages. In the United States, she has continued to work as a professional dancer, choreographer, and dance educator. Her choreography and performance work has included collaborations with Opera Carolina, Dances of India, Carolinas Latin Dance Company, and others.
Outside of the arts, Marina worked for many years as a Salon and Spa Manager, then served as a core subject teacher assistant and dance teacher at Cedarwood Academy for several years, as well as the weekend school Yunost.
Today, Marina works with the WorldWise Kids upper elementary and middle school homeschool co-op, where she contributes to the education and development of young learners. She also continues to pursue her passion for performing as a member of the Via Romen music and dance ensemble.
Through her work in education, business, and the performing arts, Marina has created a unique path that reflects her international background, creativity, dedication to learning, and passion for bringing people and cultures together.
